Used only while you are actively capturing a song, to identify the music around you.

Tunne does not record audio. ShazamKit converts what the microphone hears into an anonymous acoustic fingerprint — a compact mathematical summary from which the original audio cannot be reconstructed — and matches that against Apple's catalogue. No recording is written to disk, kept in memory after the match, or transmitted.

That match is handled by Apple, under Apple's privacy policy.

Used to place a captured song on your map. Tunne requests when in use authorisation and nothing more. It cannot and does not read your location while it is closed or in the background.

Coordinates are stored on your device with the capture and are never transmitted anywhere. The place name next to a song comes from Apple's geocoder, which turns a coordinate into a street or district name — that lookup is handled by Apple, and Tunne attaches no identifier to it.

Declining location is fully supported. Songs still save; they simply carry no place and do not appear on the map.

Two, both to Apple, neither carrying anything about you:

• A ShazamKit match — an anonymous audio fingerprint, only while you are capturing.
• An itunes.apple.com catalogue lookup — a public, keyless endpoint queried by track ID, to fetch album artwork and a 30-second preview. No identifier, no cookie, no account.

There is no Tunne server.

Everything sits in a local database inside the app's own sandbox:

• Song title, artist, genre and Apple Music identifier
• Album artwork, cached once so the app works offline
• Coordinate, place name, city and country
• The time you caught it
• Your rating, your note, your favourites

Deleting a capture removes it. Deleting the app removes all of it. Neither is recoverable, because there is no copy anywhere other than your own device backup.

• No account, sign-up, or email address
• No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or attribution SDK
• No advertising, and no advertising identifier
• No third-party SDKs of any kind
• No tracking across apps or websites
• No sale or sharing of data — there is none to sell

Tunne is rated 12+ because music recognition can return explicit song titles. It collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure and portability over your personal data. In Tunne's case you exercise these directly on the device: the data is yours, on your phone, and you can read, edit or delete any of it at any time without asking anyone. There is no copy elsewhere to request.

Any future feature that transmits data — iCloud sync being the obvious candidate — will be announced in the release notes, will be opt-in, and will be reflected here and in the App Store privacy labels before it ships.
