Recognition needs a few clean seconds of the actual recording. The usual culprits:

• Too much talking over the top — get closer to the speaker if you can.
• A live band, a cover, or a DJ edit. Shazam matches recordings, not performances.
• No connection. The match needs the network for the two or three seconds it runs.
• The intro or a long ambient passage. Wait for something distinctive.

Tunne will tell you when it heard nothing rather than guessing. Move a little closer and tap again.

Indoors, GPS can be tens of metres out, and Tunne takes the best fix it has rather than making you wait. Being able to nudge a pin is on the roadmap.

If a song saved with no place at all, your phone had no usable fix at that moment — or location permission is off. Either way the song is safe in your collection; it just isn't on the map.

Everything is in iOS Settings → Tunne. Microphone access is needed to recognise anything at all. Location is optional, and only ever requested for while you are using the app.

On your phone, and only there. That also means it travels with your device backup and nowhere else — so if you move to a new iPhone, restore from a backup rather than setting it up as new. See the privacy policy for the details.
